Hey Guys!

I don't know how many people actually look at this, I'm assuming not many because it is sort of a random collection of homework assignments and outside of CS-103 I don't really put a lot of time into making it look pretty or anything like that...but here is the thing: I got that e-mail from WickedJ7, as I'm sure you all did too, and I think they have a good point about how to make this homework worthwhile.

In an effort to pick a site that a lot of other people are picking, I'm changing my social group to this site. This site is AltaVista and if you take a look at it you will see that it actually isn't too bad.

Anyway, I hope this blogpost maybe swayed some people, if not that's cool too :o)

I chose Google as my hyperlink for a few reasons. After some serious thinking I realized that I do not use social websites that often. I never buy books, music, or movies online, I barely even browse for these things online. This made any site such as: Amazon or eBay out of the question. Google, however, has a place on everyone's computer regardless of their interests or even their computer knowledge. Google is easy to use, and covers an enormous range of information therefore it can be used by an enormous range of people including myself.

This site is useful for a variety of reasons. Google is a general search engine meaning that it is not specific to a particular subject and you can search for absolutely anything using Google. It contains so much information, you can be sure that the search engine found what you are looking for, it is simply a matter of finding it yourself among all the other sites that Google has found.

Google is a generalized search engine which means thta it indexes a large collection of web pages via keywords. The database contains an enormous amount of information, more information than most people can imagine.

In order to find what you are looking for Google uses what is known as an Automated Web Spider. This means that it is not restricted to any topics, but can search for anything.

The web spider works differently than a Subject Tree. It places all the most commonly found links at the top of the list making it easy for the user to find what he or she is looking for. People who commonly use General Search Engines such as Google know to avoid any hit beyond the 20th-30th hit. If you reach the 20th hit and still have not found a hit that matches what you are looking for, you should change the keywords in your search.

FindSpot and AskJeeves are both competitiors of Google, they are both General Serach Engines as well.

Google is a great general search engine. Especially for people who do not conduct searches very often. It is extremely easy to use and anyone can be successful using it which is why it is so popular among users today.

Okay so I have to post about why I chose the two companies I chose.

Um..they both started with 'A'. (That was cool).
American Express is a credit card. (That was cool).
AT&T is a phone company, I love phones.

The path connecting these two things was surprisingly small and went through a soda company. That is pretty weird. But hey, life is weird like that, I heard somewhere the Disney owns like some ridiculous stuff that has nothing to do with the media or children.

So yeah...none of this corresponds with my blog at all. But that is because my blog is dumb.

So these three guys are standing around at the top of the empire state building drinking beer and having a good time.
One guy looks at his friend and says to him, "You know, if you jump out that window," motioning toward the window, "you won't fall because the air pressure is so intense up here it'll suspend you in the air."
His friend laughs and says, "You're so full of it, if I jumped out that window I would totally fall."
So they continue to laugh and have a good time, and about twenty minutes later the first guy repeats his previous statement. He says, "You know, if you jump out that window, you won't fall there is too much air pressure."
His friend looks up at him and says, "Would you quit saying that? It isn't true."
So the first guy gets up and sort of staggers over to the window, opens it up and jumps out. The crazy part is, he was actually suspended in the air, he wasn't falling!
The second guy looks up at him astonished and jumps out of his chair, "That is so cool, I want to try," he says.
So, he walks over to the window, opens it up and jumps; he falls down to the street, and SPLAT! hits the sidewalk from 80 some-odd stories high.
The first guy is standing next to the window watching this and so the third guy walks over to the window, looks at the first guy disappointingly and says, "You know Superman, you can be a real ass sometimes."
